At Zen 4 BodyMindSoul, in addition to using high-quality skincare products supplied by wholesalers, we encourage the use of natural, organic products, which can be made from the comfort of your own home and from simple ingredients you have in your kitchen.  Flaxseed gel is an amazing DIY product, which offers many benefits for the skin (and hair).  Some of the benefits include hydration, soothing inflammation, and potentially reducing signs of ageing. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, which can help moisturize, calm irritation, and protect the skin from damage. It can also help tighten the skin and minimize the appearance of pores. 

Hydration:

  • Flaxseed gel is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin and helps it retain it. 
  • This can lead to smoother, more plump skin. 
  • Regular use can improve overall skin hydration and address dryness. 

Soothing Inflammation:

  • The omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseed gel have anti-inflammatory properties. 
  • This can be beneficial for those with sensitive or irritated skin, helping to calm redness, swelling, and conditions like eczema or rosacea. 
  • It can also help soothe skin after shaving, sunburn, or other irritations. 

Anti-Ageing:

  • Flaxseed gel contains antioxidants that can help combat free radicals, which contribute to skin aging.

To make flaxseed gel, boil flax seeds in water, simmer, strain the mixture, and let it cool. This gel can be used for both the skin and hair. 


Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup (60 grams) flaxseeds
  • 4 cups (1 litre) of water
  • Optional: Essential oils, such as lime and ginger, or Vitamin E oil.

Instructions:

1. Boil and Simmer:Place flaxseeds and water in a pan and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 30-40 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent sticking. 

2. Strain:Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Strain the gel through a muslin bag, stocking, or cheesecloth into a glass jar. 

3. Cool and Store:Allow the gel to cool completely. Store the flaxseed gel in the refrigerator. It can last for up to two weeks. 

4. Optional Additions:Add essential oils or Vitamin E oil for extra benefits and fragrance. 


EGG WHITES

Another wonderful ingredient to smother on your skin is the white of an egg!  That's right! An egg!  Separate the white of an egg and put it into a bowl.  Take a brush and spread it over your face.  Leave it for 30-45 minutes.  Wash off with warm water.  


An egg white face mask contains protein, has skin-tightening effects and absorbs excess oil from the skin. The vitamins and minerals in an egg can benefit the skin's overall appearance.
